The Department of Energy Engineering at University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized an awareness workshop entitled “The Role of Modern Technology in Building and Developing Women’s Capacities in Contemporary Societies” on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in the department’s classrooms. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of modern technologies in supporting women’s empowerment and enhancing their presence across various academic, professional, and social fields, contributing to broader participation in light of rapid digital transformations and the development of a more inclusive and balanced society.
The workshop was delivered by lecturers Anwar Qasim Abdul Muhammad and Inas Abdul Zaid, who addressed key themes related to the use of modern technology in developing women’s cognitive and professional skills, as well as its role in supporting their economic and social independence. They also emphasized the importance of active engagement in the digital environment as a fundamental tool for enhancing opportunities for development and empowerment.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturers stressed the importance of continuing awareness initiatives that reinforce the role of modern technology in empowering women, and the need to develop digital skills among women in line with rapid technological advancements. They also highlighted the importance of fostering a supportive environment that expands women’s participation across various sectors, as well as strengthening integration between academic institutions and relevant sectors to ensure the sustainability of efforts aimed at empowering women and building a more advanced and inclusive society.
