The Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hameed Abdul-Majeed, honored Prof. Dr. Faridoun Allawi, a retired faculty member of the Department of Water Resources Engineering, today, Thursday, September 24, 2026, in recognition of his distinguished scientific achievement and his receipt of the Innovative Research Award.
Prof. Dr. Faridoun Allawi is among the academics whose scientific work has been associated with the fields of water resources and hydrology. His name appears in international scientific sources as a researcher affiliated with the University of Baghdad and as a reviewer for the Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, in addition to his research publications in the Journal of Engineering at the University of Baghdad on topics related to water resources and hydraulic engineering.
During the honoring ceremony, the Dean expressed his appreciation for the scientific achievements of the College of Engineering’s faculty members, particularly academics who have contributed to advancing the scientific mission of the College and the University. He emphasized that honoring researchers represents recognition of their scientific contributions and encouragement to continue research and innovation.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Faridoun Allawi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Dean and the College of Engineering for this initiative, affirming that the honor represents recognition of his academic and research career and serves as an incentive to continue contributing to his field of specialization
