The Human Rights Unit at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized an awareness activity entitled “Iraqi Sovereignty: Independence of Decision-Making and Protection of Human Rights,” prepared and conducted by Dr. Israa Abd Ali Kadhim, Head of the Human Rights Unit.
The activity addressed the concept of national sovereignty and its importance in consolidating independent decision-making and the rule of law. It also focused on raising awareness of rights, duties, and fundamental freedoms, contributing to fostering values of citizenship and social responsibility among students.
The activity further highlighted the importance of legal and human rights awareness within the university and engineering environment, linking scientific knowledge with professional and ethical responsibility, respect for the law, and the public interest. This contributes to strengthening the engineer’s role in serving society and the state.
The activity is part of the College of Engineering’s efforts to promote a culture of human rights and legal awareness and to reinforce the principles of the rule of law and professional ethics within the academic environment.
