The College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, hosted a public defense for master’s student Nashwa Rabah Abboud from the Department of Electronic Engineering. Her thesis was titled:
(Machine Learning-Based RPL Protocol for Improving WSN Performance)
on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 9:00 AM, in the discussion hall.
The defense committee consisted of the following professors:
Prof. Dr. Hekmat Najm Abdullah… Chair
Assistant Professor Dr. Aqeel Nima Zayan… Member
Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hamid Sahar… Member
Dr. Anwar Qasim… Member and Supervisor
Thesis Objectives:
1) An RPL code enhanced with machine learning algorithms is an effective aid in wireless energy sensing for networks. Two approaches were developed: the first represents the basic implementation of the RPL-OF0 protocol, combining Random Forest (RF) and Support Destination Model (SVM) algorithms with dynamic RPL identification paths.
2) The proposed framework was validated using MATLAB in various simulations, including node partitioning—regularized interval distribution—successful signals such as power consumption, packet delivery ratio (PDR), end-to-end (E2E) recording time, and activity interaction.
After a public discussion by the honorable members of the discussion committee and listening to the research researchers, the researcher was awarded and registered with the Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering.
