In a remarkable academic achievement, the University of Baghdad ranked first among six Iraqi universities featured in the QS World University Rankings 2025, reaffirming its leading position in higher education and scientific research both locally and internationally.

This year’s ranking highlighted the continued excellence of the Petroleum Engineering Department at the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad, which successfully maintained its global position within the (51–100) range worldwide in the Petroleum Engineering subject area, while also securing first place among the university’s departments.
This achievement reflects the department’s outstanding academic and research efforts, the high competency of its faculty and students, and its strong educational outcomes that align with the evolving demands of the oil and energy sector.

Prof. Dr. Samira Mohammed Hamdallah, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, commended the dedicated efforts of the department’s faculty and staff, emphasizing the importance of maintaining and strengthening its scientific standing through curriculum development and expanding research collaborations with both local and international institutions.

This accomplishment marks another milestone in enhancing the University of Baghdad’s presence in global rankings and reinforcing its pioneering role in advancing higher education and research excellence in Iraq and beyond.
