The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad held its first council session for the 2025–2026 academic year on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, chaired by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majid, and attended by the vice deans and heads of scientific departments.
The council discussed several important issues related to the educational process and the development of academic and administrative performance. The agenda included preparations for the new academic year and the provision of the necessary requirements and equipment to ensure the smooth progress of the educational process. The council also reviewed requests for study extensions for some postgraduate students in critical cases and approved a number of scientific research papers.
During the session, members of the council welcomed Prof. Dr. Alaa Dawood Salman on assuming the chairmanship of the Department of Surveying Engineering, succeeding Prof. Dr. Maytham Mutashar, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Osama Abdul Munem Al-Tamimi on assuming the chairmanship of the Department of Architecture, succeeding Prof. Dr. Saad Fawzi, wishing them success in their new responsibilities.
At the conclusion of the session, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majid, honored both Prof. Dr. Saad Fawzi and Prof. Dr. Maytham Mutashar in recognition of their great efforts and distinguished contributions in serving the college during their tenure as department heads, while emphasizing the importance of continuing to work in a spirit of teamwork to achieve the college’s goals and its educational, research, and community mission.
