The Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop on Monday, September 14, 2026, entitled “Towards a Sustainable Environment: Water Pollution Treatment Using Chemical Engineering Techniques.” The workshop aimed to highlight the role of chemical engineering techniques in reducing water pollution and promoting sustainable solutions in the field of water treatment.
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Hind Hassan Abdul-Hussein, who addressed the key engineering techniques used in the treatment of polluted water, as well as the mechanisms for employing chemical, physical, and electrical technologies to remove pollutants and improve water quality. She also emphasized the importance of adopting environmentally friendly technologies that contribute to sustainability and the protection of water resources.
The workshop also discussed a number of scientific and practical topics related to developing innovative solutions for wastewater treatment and reducing the impacts of pollutants, while emphasizing the importance of scientific research and utilizing chemical engineering outcomes to address environmental challenges.
The workshop was held as part of the College of Engineering’s efforts to promote scientific and environmental awareness and encourage the exchange of expertise and knowledge in water treatment technologies. It also supports scientific efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and preserving water and environmental resources.
