The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad achieved first place among the University’s colleges and academic units in implementing and completing activities related to human rights. This achievement was announced during the College’s participation in a meeting of the Human Rights Division at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad, held in the Resources and Information Hall at the Central Library, based on the official invitation addressed to the Human Rights Units across the University’s colleges and academic units.

The meeting addressed a number of topics related to human rights activities and events across the University’s colleges and academic units. It also reviewed the most prominent programs and initiatives implemented, in addition to discussing the challenges facing the work of Human Rights Units and ways to develop working mechanisms and enhance awareness-raising activities within the university environment.

The College of Engineering’s first-place ranking in the implementation and completion of human rights activities reflects the programs and awareness-raising events carried out by the College’s Human Rights Unit, which contribute to strengthening the presence of human rights concepts within university activities.

During the meeting, Dr. Israa, Director of the Human Rights Unit at the College of Engineering, presented a number of proposals, including the possibility of participating in the development and authorship of the curriculum for the Human Rights course. She also emphasized the importance of linking human rights concepts with engineering professional ethics, thereby contributing to raising students’ awareness of their professional and humanitarian responsibilities.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the representatives of Human Rights Units from the various colleges and academic units of the University of Baghdad to exchange views and experiences and discuss ways to coordinate efforts and develop awareness-raising programs and activities. These efforts aim to strengthen the role of the Units in promoting a culture of human rights and duties and consolidating their principles within the university environment.
