A group of faculty members from the Department of Water Resources Engineering, accompanied by first-year students, conducted a scientific visit to the Department of Construction and Projects at the University of Baghdad. They were warmly welcomed by Dr. Ali Adel, the Head of the Scientific Committee in the department.
Dr. Ali delivered a lecture in which he introduced the students to the nature of the department’s work, explaining that it comprises three main divisions: the Planning Division, the Implementation Division, and the Follow-up Division. He noted that the department is currently overseeing the construction of the College of Artificial Intelligence and Excellence building within the Al-Jadriya campus.
Dr. Ali also presented a scaled model of the University of Baghdad’s Al-Jadriya campus and its colleges, demonstrating how the water channel surrounding the university is supplied from the Tigris River. He further discussed building design requirements, such as safety factors for various loads, and stressed the importance of students gaining practical exposure to on-site project work.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Ali recommended organising regular scientific field visits to the projects supervised by the department in order to enhance the students’ practical understanding.
