Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and the direct supervision of the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Dhia Jassim, the college organized a central celebration on the occasion of Iraqi Engineer’s Day. The event was held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in the Dr. Mahdi Hantoush Hall.
The celebration witnessed distinguished academic and scientific attendance, including Professor Dr. Suhail Najm, Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Scientific Affairs; Professor Dr. Hussein Qasim Hussein, Director of the Graduate Studies Department at the University Presidency; and Dr. Harith Al-Azzawi, Director of the Media and Government Communications Department at the university, in addition to faculty members and engineers from the college.
The event opened with the Iraqi national anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and a moment of silence in memory of Iraq’s martyrs.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm delivered a speech emphasizing the vital role of engineers in the nation’s development and commended the College of Engineering for its mission in preparing a generation of skilled engineers capable of advancing the country’s sectors.
Professor Dr. Dhia Jassim also addressed the audience, praising the college’s pioneering role and its faculty in fostering a rigorous and dynamic educational environment that keeps pace with modern advancements and societal needs.
The celebration featured a documentary showcasing the academic journey, scientific achievements, and historical legacy of the College of Engineering in producing distinguished engineering professionals for Iraq.
The event concluded with honoring a group of the college’s engineers and professors by awarding them certificates of appreciation in recognition of their continuous dedication and contributions.
This celebration comes as part of the college’s commitment to instilling pride in the Iraqi engineering profession and acknowledging the critical role that engineering expertise plays in rebuilding and developing the nation, while strengthening students’ sense of belonging to this noble profession.
