The Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Baghdad, under the auspices of the Deanship of the College of Engineering, held a seminar titled:
“How To Write a Bibliometric Paper Using R Studio”
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Qusay Medhat Saleh on April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the department’s discussion hall. The seminar was attended by the Head of the Department, Dr. (Assistant Professor Dr. Firas Ali Saber), and a number of department faculty members. The seminar included a presentation on how to prepare a bibliometric paper using the R language. The lecture focused on the steps of bibliometric analysis using the specialized Bibliometrix package, with a practical application using the Biblioshiny interface. The seminar aimed to introduce the concept of bibliometric analysis as a statistical tool for measuring and analyzing published scientific literature, highlighting the difference between the terms “bibliometrics” as a scientific field, and “bibliometrix” as a technical tool within the R language. It also addressed how to choose the appropriate databases (Scopus and Web of Science). The importance of these two databases was addressed due to the diversity of their fields and the availability of advanced analysis tools, as well as the reliability of the data extracted from them. The practical steps for writing a bibliometric research paper were also explained, along with practical examples and an explanation of the methodological framework for bibliometric research. Some recommendations were made, most notably emphasizing the importance of the bibliometric approach in supporting academic decision-making and accurately and objectively identifying future research directions based on reliable quantitative and statistical criteria.
