Professor Dr. Meytham Mutasher Sharqi, Head of the Department of Surveying Engineering, participated as a member of the defense committee for the master’s thesis of the student Anhar Mohammed Breesem, specializing in Surveying Engineering Technologies at the Technical Engineering College – Baghdad, on the morning of Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Her thesis was titled:
Modeling Relations of the Land Surface Temperature (LST) with the Variations of LU/LC Indices for Najaf Governorate-Iraq Using Remote Sensing.
The study aimed to monitor and identify changes in land use/land cover (LU/LC) indices for Najaf Governorate and produce land use maps for several years. It also focused on calculating temperature values along with the indices using satellite images of the study area and modeling these values to produce multi-year relationships, identifying environmental changes based on the temperature distribution across the study area.
After extensive discussion of the thesis and considering the scientific observations, the thesis was successfully accepted.
