Assistant Professor Dr. Abd al-Hussain al-Iraqi and Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Issam from the Architecture Department at the University of Baghdad participated as members in the “Committee for Correcting Project Execution in Iraq Using Building Information Modeling (BIM).”
The meeting was held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, as part of a series of meetings that resulted in numerous important procedures and recommendations.
These meetings aim to establish a guiding framework for organizing the use of BIM technology in construction projects, representing an advanced step, especially since many countries are still in the early stages of adopting this system. The proposed procedures align with ongoing developmental plans in Iraq, particularly in the construction of large projects, whether residential, administrative, or service-oriented, contributing to accelerating reconstruction efforts and reducing costs.
It is worth mentioning that the committee includes experts from the University of Technology, the Engineers Union, the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, as well as the Engineering Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
