As part of its ongoing scientific and academic activities, the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled “Using ETAP Software in Power Transmission System Analysis.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Rana Ali Abtan and Assistant Lecturer Anmar Khawam Ali on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 10:30 AM.
The workshop highlighted the increasing importance of advanced engineering software in the energy sector, specifically ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyzer Program), which is considered one of the most important modern software tools used globally for the design, simulation, and analysis of power transmission networks and systems.
During the session, the presenters discussed the practical mechanisms for using the software in:
- Conducting load flow analysis studies to evaluate network performance and manage loads.
- Analyzing electrical loads and faults to ensure operational continuity and enhance system reliability.• Digital simulation applications and their role in enabling engineers and students to make sound technical decisions.
The workshop witnessed wide attendance and active participation from students, faculty members, and staff. The lecture included extensive scientific discussions and a Q&A session on the practical applications of the software, which enriched the workshop content and deepened the attendees’ engineering understanding.
These activities are part of the department’s plans to enhance students’ practical and programming skills and to connect academic curricula with the latest engineering technologies used in the job market and energy sector institutions.
