The Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “The Effectiveness of the Architectural Graduation Project Towards Success in the Professional Job Market” on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Mohammed Makiya Hall.

The workshop was prepared and delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ghada Mohammed Ismail Kammouna and Asst. Prof. Dr. Rand Hazim Agha.

The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between the knowledge and skills acquired through academic architectural graduation projects and the actual requirements of the professional job market. It focused on equipping participants with the skills needed to transform architectural design ideas and concepts into practical and implementable projects.

The workshop also sought to enhance the professional readiness of architectural engineering students and recent graduates, facilitating their transition from the academic environment to the competitive professional field. This was addressed through linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications and guiding graduation projects towards tackling real-world challenges relevant to the local context and responsive to community needs.

The workshop highlighted the importance of developing architectural graduation projects beyond their academic requirements, transforming them into practical experiences that reflect professional competencies and meet the evolving demands of the architectural sector. It also emphasized the role of academic institutions in preparing qualified graduates capable of contributing effectively to professional practice and sustainable urban development.
