The Council of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad held its first open meeting for the 2026–2027 academic year on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, Dean of the College of Engineering, with the attendance of the Council members.
During the meeting, the Council discussed a number of items on its agenda, foremost among them academic affairs. The Council considered the establishment of a PhD program in the Department of Surveying Engineering, in addition to discussing the organizational structure of the academic departments.
Under the postgraduate studies agenda, the Council addressed several matters concerning postgraduate students, including cases related to the termination of students’ enrollment, as well as various other individual cases, and took the necessary measures accordingly.
Regarding undergraduate studies, the Council discussed a number of issues related to academic curricula and the requirements of the educational process.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed emphasized the importance of enhancing academic and administrative performance and advancing the educational process in accordance with standards of academic rigor and excellence.
