Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering at University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Professor Dr. Rasha Habib Salman, the Department of Chemical Engineering, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling, Educational Guidance, and Continuing Education Units at the College of Engineering, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Administrative and Financial Corruption and Its Impact on Iraqi Society” at the Smart Hall of the department.
The workshop aimed to enhance community awareness and reinforce ethical and professional values, contributing to building an institutional environment based on principles of integrity and transparency. It also highlighted the importance of joint academic and educational efforts in confronting corruption in its various forms.
The workshop sessions were presented by lecturer Dr. Ghusoon Abdul Mohammed, who discussed the concept of administrative and financial corruption and its negative repercussions on Iraqi society. The lecture also shed light on the main causes and factors leading to the spread of this phenomenon, in addition to reviewing the legal frameworks and legislation related to combating corruption in Iraq and their role in limiting such practices.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturer recommended intensifying awareness and educational programs related to anti-corruption efforts, strengthening the role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of integrity and transparency, and emphasizing the importance of enforcing deterrent laws and regulations. She also stressed the need to encourage cooperation between academic institutions and oversight authorities to help reduce corruption and protect the resources of society and the state.
