As part of the initiatives of University of Baghdad to develop students’ scientific abilities, refine their talents, and encourage creative thinking and problem-solving skills, the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with several engineering colleges from Iraqi universities, organized the Eighth Engineering Mathematics Competition for the 2025–2026 academic year on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Jameel Al-Malaika Hall.
The competition activities were conducted under the supervision of a specialized scientific committee comprising mathematics professors from the participating universities. The committee aimed to unify evaluation standards and ensure the accuracy of the questions and the rigor of the scientific content, thereby promoting fairness and objectivity in academic competition.
The competition witnessed distinguished scientific participation from students of the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad and Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, in addition to students from Al-Mustansiriya University and Al-Nahrain University, within a competitive atmosphere characterized by academic rigor and constructive scientific interaction. A total of 65 male and female students from the first and second academic stages participated, representing several engineering colleges.
The Engineering Mathematics Competition is considered the first mathematics competition at the level of Iraqi universities dedicated to discovering talented students in the field of engineering mathematics. The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad has been keen to organize it annually since its launch in the 2017–2018 academic year, reaffirming its pioneering role in supporting scientific activities aimed at developing students’ scientific and research skills.
The importance of this competition lies in developing students’ critical thinking and mathematical analysis skills, as well as enhancing their abilities to address engineering problems through rigorous scientific methods. It also provides an academic environment that encourages creativity and intellectual competition, contributing to the preparation of a distinguished generation of engineers capable of applying knowledge across various practical fields.
