Sustainable Development – Responsible Consumption and Production
The Department of Water Resources Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad organized a scientific workshop entitled “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Digital Age” on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The workshop was presented by Associate Professor Dr. Amin Mohammed Saleh, Head of the Department, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members.
The workshop aimed to promote a culture of innovation and highlight the role of digital transformation in creating new job opportunities. It also sought to develop creative thinking skills and transform ideas into applicable entrepreneurial projects, thereby supporting the requirements of the knowledge economy and enhancing الشباب’s ability to keep pace with rapid developments.
The workshop covered several themes. Dr. Rusul Latif focused on methods of generating entrepreneurial ideas through brainstorming and design thinking, as well as mechanisms for transforming problems into investment opportunities. She also reviewed the Business Model Canvas as a tool for designing projects and identifying sources of value and revenue.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Ali Imran discussed analytical and marketing aspects, including market analysis, consumer behavior, identifying target groups, and the use of SWOT analysis to strengthen competitiveness. He also highlighted digital marketing strategies and the importance of data analysis in improving marketing performance.
In addition, Associate Professor Dr. Amin Mohammed Saleh presented a session on planning and building entrepreneurial capacities. He addressed the preparation of business plans and their key components, including vision, mission, objectives, and financial analysis, as well as the development of entrepreneurial personal skills such as decision-making, leadership, risk management, and teamwork.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the speakers emphasized the importance of continuing to organize specialized scientific events due to their significant role in preparing an entrepreneurial generation capable of employing knowledge and innovation in the service of society and keeping pace with digital transformation.
