The Arabic Language Committee at the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop titled “Challenges Facing the Arabic Language in the Era of Globalization and the Internet.” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Ali Fawzi Rashid, Rapporteur of the Arabic Language Committee, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, for college students, and was held in the department’s smart hall.
The workshop aimed to highlight the impact of globalization and digital transformation on the status of the Arabic language, shedding light on its declining use in the digital space. It also addressed key challenges, including the of Arabic digital content, the spread of colloquial dialects, and the dominance of foreign languages across various areas of digital communication.
The session further discussed the importance of integrating the Arabic language into modern technologies, particularly in fields such as artificial intelligence, while emphasizing the need to strengthen its presence in educational and academic institutions.
The workshop concluded by stressing the importance of preserving linguistic identity, developing Arabic digital content, and enhancing students’ language skills through continuous training programs that support the effective use of Arabic across scientific and technological fields.
