• In line with the goals and aspirations of the Department of Chemical Engineering to enhance cooperation with the industrial sector, the presidency of the Department of Chemical Engineering hosted a meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council Committee on Monday, December 14, 2025, as per order (Sh A/H/862) issued on November 21, 2025.
  • The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rasha Habib Salman, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, and attended by Prof. Dr. Hassan Farhoud Maki, Prof. Dr. Ammar Saleh Abbas, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faiq Hassan, Prof. Dr. Raghad Farid Qassem, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rana Thabet Abdul, Dr. Munir Kazem Mohsen, Dr. Mohammed Jabir Yass, Dr. Abdullah Adnan Abdul Karim, Dr. Rowaida Nazeer Abbas, and Mr. Ali Saber Abdullah, representing employers.
  • The discussion focused on opportunities and challenges related to developing graduates’ skills, updating curricula, and student activities in the Department of Chemical Engineering, which positively impacts graduates’ skills and their readiness for the job market. Furthermore, the meeting resulted in several recommendations, the most important of which were:
  • 1. The possibility of establishing a branch for studying nuclear engineering at both undergraduate and graduate levels within the Department of Chemical Engineering and collaborating with the Iraqi Atomic Energy Authority for student training and preparing graduates to support the authority with trained engineering staff.

 

  • 2. Coordination with the Atomic Energy Authority to organize workshops and training courses to inform students about the importance of nuclear energy in peaceful uses and consider it one of the important sources for generating clean energy.

 

  • 3. Agreement to hold a workshop in coordination with the Industrial Research and Development Authority at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals to conduct a training workshop for students in December 2026 on safety measures and risk management in oil fields.

 

  • 4. Completing plans for training courses, workshops, and field visits in coordination with the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate for students and graduates of the Department of Chemical Engineering.

 

  • 5. The representative of the Syndicate proposed that the head of the Engineers Syndicate should not grant licenses for establishing industrial projects without having a chemical engineer among the project staff, reflecting the importance and role of chemical engineers in managing and monitoring industrial projects while maintaining industrial safety and security standards.

 

  • 6. Coordination with the Industrial Research and Development Authority at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals to provide field training for students on using testing devices and modern technologies by preparing a schedule specifying times and numbers of students for conducting field visits to the center.
