As part of the Fourth International Conference on Petroleum and Petrochemical Technology, held by the College of Oil and Gas Engineering at the University of Technology in collaboration with the College of Engineering at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amal Habib Asi Al-Lami, a faculty member in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad, participated in the conference events in the Holy City of Karbala on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Her participation included presenting a scientific research paper titled:
“The Influence of Nano and Sustainable Materials on Enhancing Mud Filtration.”
The study examined the use of ground pine cone particles, in both nano and micro forms, as environmentally friendly additives to drilling mud to improve its properties and reduce its negative environmental impacts.

The research demonstrated that these natural materials contribute to enhancing the performance of drilling fluids, reducing environmental pollution, and lowering operational risks and costs. It also emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable and eco-friendly nanomaterials to support oil drilling operations with greater efficiency and safety.

This participation reflects the College of Engineering’s commitment to advancing sustainable scientific research, supporting technological development in the oil industry, and strengthening its presence in scientific forums.
