The men’s and women’s teams of the College of Engineering achieved advanced placements during their participation in the University of Baghdad Badminton Championship, held on the courts of the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Baghdad, with the participation of 22 colleges. The event took place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, as part of the first semester activities program organized by the University’s Department of Student Activities.
Ahmed Kamal Mohsen, a student from the Environmental Engineering Department, secured third place in the men’s singles championship after outperforming athletes from the Colleges of Political Science, Law, and Medicine, among 18 participating players.
In the women’s singles category, Maryam Ahmed Wasif, a student from the Civil Engineering Department, earned third place in the championship, which was held in the hall of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, with the participation of 22 colleges from across the University of Baghdad.
The Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majid, congratulated the winning teams, praising the technical performance and the efforts made by the students. He emphasized the importance of sports activities in promoting teamwork, cooperation, and strengthening institutional belonging among students.
