As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen academic exchange and promote scientific openness at the regional and international levels, the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad welcomed a group of international students enrolled under the “Study in Iraq” initiative launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The new students include Aminu Shaibu Shehu from Nigeria, who joined the Department of Civil Engineering; Raghad Ammar from Syria, who enrolled in the Department of Environmental Engineering; and Hussein Noor Hussein from Jordan, who joined the Department of Aeronautical Engineering.
The reception was conducted under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Ziad Tareq Abd Ali, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, with follow-up from the Security Permits Unit at the college.

Prof. Dr. Ziad Tareq Abd Ali affirmed the college’s commitment to supporting Arab and international students by providing a distinguished academic environment that enables them to integrate and benefit from the scientific and research expertise of the University of Baghdad. He also noted that the college continues to strengthen its international presence through active participation in Ministry-led initiatives.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kazem Dhuair Mozan, Director of the Security Permits Unit, stated that all admission, reception, and registration procedures were carried out smoothly, with careful attention to creating a suitable study environment that reflects a positive image of higher education in Iraq.

The “Study in Iraq” initiative represents an important step toward enhancing cultural and academic cooperation between Iraq and other countries. It also contributes to elevating the standing of Iraqi universities in international rankings and to fostering a rich, diverse educational environment that advances higher education and serves society.
