Asst. Lecturer Mahmoud Sawadi, a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, has published a scientific research paper titled:
“High Gain and High Efficiency Soft-Switching Quadratic Boost Converter for Renewable Energy Applications”
in collaboration with an international research team.
The paper was published in Scientific Reports, a journal under Springer Nature, which is ranked in the first quartile (Q1) in the Scopus database, with an Impact Factor (IF) of 3.9 and a CiteScore of 6.9 for the year 2024.
The study focuses on developing a high-efficiency, high-gain quadratic boost converter designed for renewable energy systems and electric vehicle charging stations. The proposed design employs a coupled inductor to achieve a high voltage gain within a limited duty cycle range, reducing component stress and enhancing overall efficiency. Moreover, it features soft-switching capability, which minimizes switching losses and increases the system’s total efficiency.
This achievement represents a significant contribution to the field of power electronics and intelligent control, reflecting the advanced level of scientific research conducted at the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad.
