The Committee for the Quality Assurance of Scientific Journals held its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 4, 2025, at the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ziad Tarek, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, with the attendance of the committee members.
The meeting opened with a welcome to the new members and addressed several important topics, most notably the transition from print to digital formats, the challenges of automating processes, and the continued implementation of the quality assurance system in academic journals.
The session included a presentation by Dr. Abeer Al-Wardi, committee member and faculty member in the Department of Environmental Engineering, who highlighted the committee’s workflow and automation processes, stressing the importance of adhering to publishing standards within reputable scientific databases.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Nadia Adnan, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Engineering, presented a set of ideas and mechanisms for submitting research papers to scientific journals and responded to members’ questions to enhance the effectiveness of the committee’s work and improve the quality of scientific publishing.
The meeting concluded with remarks from Prof. Dr. Ziad Tarek, who emphasized the need to adhere to academic and scientific standards and to work collaboratively to overcome challenges, commending the efforts and cooperation of the committee members in advancing the quality and rigor of academic journals
