On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized a field scientific visit to the Al-Doura Thermal Power Station for first-year students. The visit was designed to provide hands-on exposure and deepen students’ understanding of key operational systems at the power station, including steam boilers, turbines, condensers, and the water treatment section. The station utilizes treated water from the Tigris River to generate steam for power production.

This educational experience served to bridge the gap between theoretical coursework and practical application, reinforcing core concepts in chemical engineering. During the visit, students observed the process of electrical energy generation, learned about the operational workflows, and received a brief overview of the station’s history and development.

The students showed great enthusiasm and actively engaged with the station’s engineering staff, who offered detailed explanations and answered various scientific questions. This interaction significantly enriched the students’ learning experience.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Department of Chemical Engineering, on behalf of its faculty and students, extended heartfelt appreciation to the management and staff of Al-Doura Thermal Power Station for their warm welcome, comprehensive guidance, and valuable contributions to student education.
