In the presence of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hameed Abdul-Majeed, the Department of Water Resources Engineering held a farewell ceremony for its Head, Professor Dr. Basim Shaba Abed, on the occasion of his retirement.

Professor Dr. Basim Shaba Abed had a profound impact on shaping successive generations of students, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to his educational mission with sincerity and diligence.

During his speech at the event, the Dean praised Professor Dr. Basim, stating: “Professor Dr. Basim Shaba Abed has been a role model in discipline, dedication, and noble ethics. While we bid him farewell today in his official capacity, we are not merely saying goodbye to a member of the Water Resources Engineering family rather, we honor his memory with pride and gratitude for his valuable achievements and contributions.”

We wish Professor Dr. Basim Shaba Abed a retirement filled with health and happiness, and we hope he continues to contribute in new ways befitting his distinguished legacy.

The ceremony was attended by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Diaa Jassim Kadhim; the Head of the Surveying Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Meetham Muttashar Sharqi; Distinguished Professor Dr. Abdul-Ilah Younis; along with the academic and technical staff of the Water Resources Engineering Department.
