The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized an in-person workshop titled:
“Artificial Lighting Techniques for Seating Areas in Restaurants.”
As part of the scientific activities of the Department of Architecture and under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, the workshop was conducted by:

- Dr. Aseel Abdul Haleem Lateef
- Dr. Asmaa Sadiq Abdul Kareem Al-Aani

The event was held on Monday, April 7, 2024, in Mohamed Makiya Hall and was attended by a number of professors, departmental staff, and students.
The workshop addressed several key themes, including:
- Strategies for selecting artificial lighting techniques in restaurant seating areas
- Lighting distribution in restaurant seating spaces based on sensory perception theories
- The impact of artificial lighting techniques on enhancing place attachment in dining environments
The workshop concluded with a hands-on practical session, during which participants engaged in in-depth discussions and interactive exchanges. A questionnaire was distributed to emphasize the core themes and gather feedback.
The primary aim of the workshop was to explore various artificial lighting techniques, their perceptual influence, and their role in enriching the spatial experience for restaurant users.
The session concluded with a series of recommendations, highlighting the need to strengthen the relationship between lighting strategies and user experience, while also considering the economic enhancement of restaurant seating areas.
