A delegation from the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, headed by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and accompanied by an academic delegation from Wuhan University of China, visited the headquarters of the National Investment Authority. They were received by the Chairman of the Authority, Engineer Adel Dakhel Mohammed Al-Yasiri, to discuss prospects for scientific and technical cooperation in the fields of renewable energy and modern technologies.

During the meeting, the participants reviewed the joint cooperation project between the University of Baghdad and Wuhan University in the fields of solar energy and Smart Microgrids. The project involves utilizing academic and research expertise, along with modern technologies, to develop sustainable solutions for energy generation and management. The participants also discussed the possibility of benefiting from the outcomes of this cooperation in supporting investment projects related to the energy sector in Iraq.

The delegations of both universities expressed their readiness to cooperate with the National Investment Authority and provide scientific, technical, and specialized expertise and consultancy in the fields of solar energy and modern microgrid technologies. Such cooperation would strengthen the role of universities and academic institutions in supporting development and investment projects and providing scientific and technological solutions to government institutions.

For his part, the Chairman of the National Investment Authority welcomed the prospects for cooperation with universities and academic and research institutions, emphasizing the importance of utilizing scientific and specialized expertise to support investment projects, particularly in the energy and modern technology sectors.

This visit comes as part of the College of Engineering’s efforts at the University of Baghdad to strengthen scientific and applied partnerships, expand cooperation with government institutions and international universities, and connect research outcomes with the actual needs of strategic and development projects. These efforts aim to contribute to the advancement of the energy sector and support sustainable development pathways in Iraq.
