Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majeed, Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, welcomed a scientific delegation from the National Security Advisory, headed by Advisor Dr. Zaid Farhoud Maki. The delegation included a group of distinguished researchers specializing in telecommunications, computer sciences, and smart city management.

The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Diaa Jassim, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, along with several faculty members of the College of Engineering. The visit aimed to discuss and exchange ideas regarding the preparations for a specialized scientific workshop titled “The Role of Geospatial Technologies in Building and Managing Smart Cities.” This workshop, organized in collaboration with the National Security Advisory, is part of the preparations for the 5th International Conference on Geospatial Applications and Smart Cities, scheduled to take place in February under the patronage of the National Security Advisory and the National Center for Spatial Data Management.

Workshop and Conference Participants

The workshop and conference will include representatives from various ministries, GIS center officials, postgraduate students, researchers, civil engineers, and specialists in geomatics, architecture, information technology, urban planning, and city management.
