As part of the scientific activities of the Department of Water Resources Engineering, a workshop titled “The Phenomenon of Drugs and Its Implications on the University Community” was organized in collaboration with the Psychological Guidance and Educational Guidance Unit and the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Engineering. Under the sponsorship of the college dean, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid, and the supervision of the department head, Professor Dr. Basim Shaba, the workshop was managed by Dr. Alaa Hassan, Lecturer Maha Rahim, and Assistant Lecturer Taiba Hussein.
The workshop took place on Monday, October 28, 2024, in the Dijlah Hall of the Department of Water Resources Engineering, with the attendance of the department head, several faculty members, and third-year students. The workshop addressed the impact of drugs on users and methods of prevention. The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness among students about the importance of avoiding this dangerous phenomenon and to be cautious of its marketing strategies, as they lead to the destruction of families and, consequently, threaten the entire community.
