In the framework of scientific collaboration between corresponding faculties and departments, the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad hosted a delegation from the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering at the University of Mosul on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. The delegation was led by the Vice Dean of the University of Mosul, Associate Professor Dr. Muneef Mahjoub Mohammed, and included several faculty members. They were welcomed by Associate Professor Dr. Dheyaa Jassim Kazem, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering for Scientific Affairs, and Associate Professor Dr. Ghanem Madiheh Ferman, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad.
The visit aimed to discuss several important issues, including the unification of curricula between the Reservoir Engineering Department at the University of Mosul and the Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad. The discussions also covered matters related to postgraduate studies, including the acceptance of graduates from the Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Mosul into the University of Baghdad.
Additionally, both parties discussed ways to exchange expertise, joint supervision, and the evaluation and discussion of scientific research to enhance integration between the specialties.
In response, Associate Professor Dr. Dia Jassim and Associate Professor Dr. Ghanem Madiheh expressed the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad’s readiness to provide full support and address any challenges that may arise during the collaboration process.
This visit is a significant step toward strengthening academic ties between the two universities and underscores both parties’ commitment to developing curricula, improving the quality of postgraduate studies, and exchanging scientific expertise for the benefit of students and researchers in the field of petroleum engineering.
