As part of the scientific activities of the Department of Electrical Engineering/College of Engineering/University of Baghdad, and in cooperation with the Operation and Control Department/Ministry of Electricity, Engineer Ali Saleh Kati’ gave a lecture entitled “Modern Protection Systems Added to the Iraqi Electrical Power System” on Tuesday, 2nd Feb. 2024. The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members in the Electrical Engineering Department and third and fourth year students.
The lecture included a presentation of the most important methods used in designing electrical protection systems due to the possibility of errors occurring in the network, whether a short current or any abnormal condition in the network, which causes problems such as fires or damage to the equipment and components of the electrical network, and the importance of protection systems in protecting everything surrounding the electrical network and maintaining network stability, reducing damage to network equipment, and protecting network loads.
At the conclusion of the lecture, the recommendation was on the need to continue the cooperation with the Operation and Control Department of the Ministry of Electricity in holding workshops that help students learn about the various modern technologies that are constantly being added to the electrical energy system in Iraq, and the problems that these technologies contribute to solving.
