At the direction of the prime minister and under the supervision of the Deanship of the Faculty of Engineering and from the standpoint of informing the faculty staff members and students about the cultural heritage of our beloved country, the Department of Water Resources Engineering organized on Tuesday, 23/1/2024, a visit to the National Museum of Iraq, which represents the great gateway to learn about the civilization of the Mesopotamian Valley, the landmarks and monuments of the Iraqi Sumerian, Akkadian, Assyrian and Babylonian civilizations, in addition to the Islamic civilization. This included the visit of the first-year students accompanied by a group of lecturers and engineers of the Department of Water Resources Engineering. Students, accompanied by tour guides, walked around the museum, and saw artifacts that tell stories of a history stretching back up to five thousand years. The National Museum in Baghdad represents one of the most important cultural centers in the world with regard to the study of ancient civilizations and stages of human development in writing, agriculture and legal legislation, and this is exactly what young people are looking for today, lines extending to the ancient past from which they can derive strength and determination to build the present and strengthen its national identity.
