In accordance with the scientific orientation by the Department of Water Resources Engineering and its vision adopted for supporting and developing academic and practical communication between the department and various public establishments and under the custody of the Dean of the College of Engineering, the respected (Professor Dr. Ghassan Hameed Abdul Majeed), A practical scientific workshop entitled (Water Potable Networks – Problems and Solutions) was held on Tuesday 12-12-2023. This workshop presented by Senior Chief Engineer (Mr. Ahmed Hussein Ali), Director of the Water Networks Department in the Al-Rashid Municipality. This workshop was directed by Dr. Muhammad Rashid, one of the department faculties. This workshop was attended by the head of the department (Prof. Dr. Basim Sh. Abd) and the department faculty, in addition to the numbers of engineering college staff of the other scientific departments, as well as the undergraduate students. This workshop addressed an important topic that is not at the level of specialists, but it may be important for the others. The lecturer gave a wonderful introduction of water importance in our lives, especially fresh water, and preserving this wealth is the preservation of our lives in general. He also added that the most important problems are appeared by the fractures that occur in the streets when there are heavy loads passing over them, and cracks, especially in old networks, or problems due to illegal transgressions carried out by some, which cause additional waste. Mr. Ahmed Hussein Ali presented the other problems of water pipes and the necessary or the periodic maintenance carried out by workers in the municipal departments of the Municipality of Baghdad at times of the year, summer or winter. All attendees expressed their admiration for this workshop and the benefit from the information it included.

The Dean of the College of Engineering presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to the engineer (Mr. Ahmed Hussein Ali), in addition he received a certificate of appreciation from the department presidency in appreciation of his participation and efforts for holding this workshop.
