The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad organized a solidarity rally on Thursday, October 22, 2026, in opposition to measures restricting the wearing of the hijab in educational institutions in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The rally reaffirmed women’s right to education and freedom of belief without discrimination.

The rally was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majeed, along with several heads of academic departments, faculty members, and students. Participants emphasized the importance of respecting religious and personal freedoms and safeguarding human dignity, in accordance with international principles that guarantee fundamental rights and freedoms.

This rally expressed humanitarian solidarity and reaffirmed the values of tolerance and respect for diversity within the educational community.
