As part of the ministerial plan aimed at enhancing environmental awareness and promoting the principles of sustainability, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized an awareness campaign through a series of educational posters under the theme: “Sustainable Energy and Environmental Protection Means Protecting Our Future.”
The campaign highlighted the importance of energy as a fundamental element of human life and a key driver of economic development. It also emphasized its vital role in supporting various developmental sectors, particularly in the management of water resources and the promotion of their sustainability.
Furthermore, the campaign focused on the economic and environmental benefits of rationalizing energy and water consumption, stressing the importance of adopting responsible practices that reduce waste and improve resource-use efficiency. These efforts are aligned with national strategies aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The initiative seeks to foster environmental awareness among students and staff members and to promote the concept of responsible investment in natural resources. By encouraging sustainable behaviors, the campaign contributes to building a more sustainable future and preserving environmental balance for future generations.
This activity is part of a broader series of awareness initiatives implemented by the Women’s Affairs Unit, which aim to support the academic and societal role of women in promoting sustainability culture and encouraging active participation in priority environmental issues.
