Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering at University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Professor Dr. Rasha Habib Salman, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Synthesis and Characterization of Magnetic Nanomaterials” on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Professor Dr. Mahmoud Omar Hall. The workshop was delivered by a distinguished group of the department’s faculty members.
This workshop was part of a series of scientific activities that the department is keen to organize in order to support scientific research and enhance knowledge in modern fields related to nanotechnology and its advanced engineering applications.
The workshop included a review of the latest methods used in the synthesis of magnetic nanomaterials, highlighting the importance of controlling the structural and physical properties of these materials to achieve high efficiency in various applications. It also presented the most prominent characterization and analysis techniques used to study their properties, including X-ray diffraction techniques, electron microscopy, and magnetic property measurements.
In addition, the workshop discussed the relationship between the nanostructure and the magnetic properties of materials, and their role in expanding the scope of applications in medical, industrial, and environmental fields. It also highlighted the promising research potential of these materials in developing modern technologies that keep pace with scientific and technological advancement.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturers emphasized the importance of continuing support for specialized research in the field of nanomaterials, due to their significance in providing innovative scientific solutions and enhancing integration between academic and practical aspects across various engineering and scientific disciplines.
