As part of efforts to promote digital awareness and keep pace with rapid developments in the field of artificial intelligence, two lecturers from the Computer Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad—Assistant Lecturer Zainab Ibrahim Shihab and Assistant Lecturer Taqa Hani Abdul Ameer—delivered a specialized training course titled “Safe Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Digital World.”
The course was organized in cooperation between the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad and the Public Health Branch at the College of Veterinary Medicine. It was held from April 27 to April 29, 2026, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students.
The training covered several scientific topics, focusing on the concept of artificial intelligence and its modern applications, mechanisms for the safe use of digital technologies, as well as raising awareness about cybersecurity risks and ways to protect accounts and personal data from hacking attempts.
It also addressed issues related to cyber extortion and methods of dealing with it, in addition to developing participants’ skills in employing smart applications in education and professional settings in a safe and effective manner, in line with the requirements of digital transformation in higher education institutions.
The course witnessed active scientific engagement from participants, including discussions on the potential of applying artificial intelligence technologies in the Iraqi environment and their role in supporting education and scientific research.
The course concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing to organize specialized training programs in this field and working toward integrating artificial intelligence applications into academic curricula, contributing to the development of a modern and sustainable digital university environment.
