As part of efforts to strengthen the connection between academic learning and labor market requirements, the Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific and professional lecture on Sunday, April 19, 2026, entitled: “The Electrical Engineer in Global Projects.”
The lecture was delivered by Engineer Mowafaq Abdul Ghani Abdullah, Managing Director and Partner at CAP Engineering and Architectural Consultants in Baghdad, in the presence of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Firas Mohammed Tuaima, along with a number of faculty members and students.
The lecture aimed to prepare students to better understand the global engineering work environment and to highlight the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice. It focused on practical and behavioral skills that enhance an engineer’s ability to transition from theoretical knowledge to project management and decision-making.
The lecture also addressed recent transformations in the electrical engineering sector, including the role of technology and artificial intelligence in reshaping the nature of engineering work. It emphasized that an engineer’s competence is no longer measured solely by technical calculations, but also by their ability to understand projects as integrated systems involving all relevant stakehold
