The Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Baghdad, under the patronage of the Deanship of the College of Engineering, held a seminar entitled:

 “Transition from Study to Employment: Skills Gap and Market Requirements”

The seminar was delivered by Assistant Lecturers Raafat Saleh Mohammed and Al-Harith Muthanna Basheer on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:30 AM, in the department’s discussion hall, with the attendance of several faculty members and students.

The seminar addressed the current state of the modern labor market, the mechanisms of institutional work, and organizational culture. It also highlighted the status of graduates and the challenges they face after graduation. In addition, it discussed the importance of developing both technical and soft skills, the significance of English language proficiency, and the necessity of aligning academic curricula with labor market requirements.

The seminar concluded with several recommendations, including:

  • The necessity of following up with fourth-year students even after graduation and providing them with guidance and support in their career paths.
  • Forming coordination committees with private sector companies to provide summer training opportunities for third-year students.
  • Transferring labor market requirements into academic curricula and laboratory training to better prepare students before graduation.
