The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad concluded the College Cup Football Championship on Monday, April 20, 2026, under the leadership of its coach, Professor Amjad Fathi, by being crowned champions after defeating the Surveying Engineering team (3–2) in the final match.
The match was full of excitement and competitiveness, with both teams delivering an outstanding performance that reflected high sportsmanship and advanced technical skill. Ultimately, the Mechanical Engineering team secured the victory and claimed the title for the third consecutive time.
The match was attended by the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Karim Hassan Ali; the Head of the Surveying Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Dawood Salman; the Director of the Student Activities Division, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Adel; along with several officials from the college administration. The event also drew a large crowd of faculty members, staff, and students who actively engaged with the game.
At the conclusion of the award ceremony took place, during which trophies and medals were distributed in recognition of the teams’ efforts and distinguished participation in this sporting event organized and supervised by the Student Activities Division.
