Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Ghassan Hameed Abdul Majeed, and the supervision of the Head of the Environmental Engineering Department, Prof. Iyad Abdul Hamza Faisal, the Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific workshop titled “Fundamentals of Microsoft Programs” on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The workshop was attended by the Head of the Department, along with a number of faculty members and students.
The workshop was delivered by Instructor Rasha Talib Ghudayib, who presented the basics of using the Microsoft Office suite, aiming to enhance efficiency and productivity in academic and professional environments.
The workshop covered key topics, including an introduction to Microsoft Word, focusing on document creation, text and paragraph formatting, and inserting tables and visual elements. It also included a practical explanation of Microsoft Excel, with emphasis on data entry and the use of basic formulas such as SUM and AVERAGE to efficiently organize and analyze data. In addition, the session addressed Microsoft PowerPoint, where participants were trained on designing presentations, adding slides, formatting text and images, and applying animations and transitions professionally.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturer emphasized the importance of developing students’ digital skills and enhancing their ability to use office software, given its essential role in supporting both academic progress and career readiness. She also stressed the need to continue organizing such training workshops to improve the technical competencies of students and faculty members at the College of Engineering.
