As part of its continuous efforts to advance the quality of scientific publishing and improve the performance of its editorial board, the editorial team of the Journal of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, chaired by Prof. Nadia Adnan Shaltagh, held a working session on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The session was dedicated to reviewing publication mechanisms and enhancing the effectiveness of editorial processes.
The meeting included discussions on plans and strategies aimed at improving the quality of published scientific research and strengthening the journal’s academic standing. Emphasis was placed on carefully monitoring submitted manuscripts and adhering to rigorous scientific and technical review standards to ensure the integrity and quality of publications.
Prof. Nadia Shaltagh also urged editorial board members to expedite the completion of their assigned tasks within specified timelines, while encouraging the utilization of international reviewers’ expertise in evaluating research according to specialization, thereby improving the overall peer-review process.
The session also addressed updates to the journal’s evaluation stages within the Scopus database, in addition to discussing the implementation of an electronic payment system, with emphasis on establishing a proper legal framework to ensure its effective application.
The meeting concluded with a focus on developing the journal’s template and proposing updates aligned with international standards, aiming to improve its overall presentation and strengthen its academic presence at the global level.
