Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and the supervision of the Head of the Environmental Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Iyad Abdul Hamza Faisal, the Environmental Engineering Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific workshop entitled:
“Workshop on Employing Artificial Intelligence Tools in Scientific Research.”
The workshop was held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, April 5, 2026, in the discussion hall of the Environmental Engineering Department, with the attendance of the Head of the Department, a number of faculty members, and students.
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Jabbar Kadhim and addressed the latest artificial intelligence tools and their applications in scientific research. It also introduced a range of specialized AI tools designed to support researchers and postgraduate students. These tools included:
- Tools for searching scientific sources
- Tools for searching within files and texts and identifying research gaps
- Tools for academic writing and paraphrasing
- Tools for statistical data analysis
- Tools for mind mapping, graphics, and presentations
- Tools for grammar and spell checking
The workshop concluded with several key recommendations, emphasizing that artificial intelligence tools play a significant role in enhancing the productivity of scientific research. However, they are not a substitute for human effort, and it is essential to adhere to the ethics of scientific research, particularly in academic writing.
