Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul-Majeed, and the supervision of the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Rasha Habib Salman, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Baghdad organized a specialized workshop entitled “Verifying the Credibility of Scientific Journals in Chemical Engineering.”
The workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr. Raghd Farid Qasim on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Omar Hall within the department.
The workshop aimed to enhance the quality of scientific publishing among researchers and graduate students by introducing major international databases and reputable journals indexed ضمن recognized classifications in the field of Chemical Engineering. It also highlighted the importance of supporting national journals by presenting the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals platform and showcasing Iraqi journals indexed globally in Scopus.
The workshop concluded with practical recommendations for researchers, emphasizing the importance of verifying the credibility of international journals before initiating the publication process to avoid predatory or unrecognized journals. It also encouraged researchers and graduate students to publish in Iraqi academic journals indexed in Scopus to help improve their global ranking.
Furthermore, the workshop stressed the importance of awareness of scientific publishing standards and their impact on enhancing the reputation of Iraqi academic research internationally, contributing to the development of the scientific landscape in Iraq and strengthening the position of national universities.
