Asst. Lecturer Mahmoud Suwadi from the Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering – University of Baghdad, in collaboration with an international research team, has published two scientific papers in reputable international journals. This achievement reflects the College’s research excellence and contributes to strengthening its academic presence at both the local and international levels.
The first paper, entitled “Triple-Voltage Gain and Self-Balancing in a New Switched-Capacitor Seven-Level Inverter for Microgrid Integration,” was published in the journal Energies, issued by MDPI, and ranked in the first quartile (Q1). The journal has an Impact Factor of 3.2 and a CiteScore of 7.3.
The study presents the design of a seven-level inverter based on switched-capacitor technology, achieving triple-voltage gain and a self-balancing voltage feature. This design makes it suitable for microgrid integration applications and enhances efficiency and power quality in modern energy systems.
The second paper, entitled “Robust Static Quadratic Optimization for Fast Active and Reactive Power Control in Grid-Tied PV-Fuel Cell Hybrid Systems,” was published in Research in Engineering and Applied Sciences (RERA), which is indexed in Clarivate. The journal has a Journal Impact Factor (JIF) of 2.3.
This research focuses on developing a robust quadratic optimization method for fast control of active and reactive power in hybrid systems combining photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell technologies connected to the electrical grid. The proposed approach enhances operational stability and power quality.
This scientific accomplishment represents an important step that underscores the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad’s commitment to supporting high-quality scientific research and promoting innovation in the fields of power electronics and renewable energy systems.
