Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, the Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering – University of Baghdad organized a scientific field visit for third-year students to the design project site of the College of Artificial Intelligence on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, under the supervision of Architectural Design course instructors.
The visit aimed to enable students to conduct a direct analytical reading of the site and to identify its spatial, environmental, and urban characteristics as fundamental starting points in developing their design concepts. It also provided students with the opportunity to understand the functional and organizational dimensions of the project, as well as the key planning and contextual challenges that should be addressed within their architectural proposals.
This visit forms part of the third-year requirements in the Architectural Design course, where students are assigned to develop a comprehensive educational project that includes multi-functional and spatially diverse facilities. This necessitates an integrated approach to functional, circulation, environmental, and formal considerations within a contemporary institutional framework aligned with the requirements of specialized educational projects.
The activity reflects the department’s commitment to strengthening applied learning methodologies and linking theoretical knowledge with field practice, thereby enhancing students’ site analysis skills and preparing them to make well-informed design decisions grounded in a realistic and in-depth understanding of spatial context.
