Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, the Department of Petroleum Engineering organized, as part of Entrepreneurship Week and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, a scientific workshop on Monday, February 9, 2026, entitled:

“Factors Influencing Global Oil Prices in the Market.”

The workshop was held in the department’s discussion hall and delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Amal Habib Assi Al-Lami, in the presence of a number of faculty members and students.

The workshop aimed to clarify the factors affecting global oil prices, enhance understanding of oil market dynamics, and enable students and specialists to analyze price movements and invest in global markets using a scientific and well-informed approach.

The lecture addressed the importance of oil as a strategic commodity that directly impacts the global economy, and highlighted the role of oil price fluctuations in shaping financial markets, energy markets, and various national economies. The workshop also focused on analyzing supply and demand factors, including geopolitical tensions, production levels, changes in global demand, as well as the impact of economic reports, political decisions, and fluctuations in the US dollar exchange rate.

The workshop concluded with an emphasis on the importance of understanding these influencing factors as a fundamental necessity for traders and investors, contributing to informed and well-considered investment decisions within global energy markets.
